Actor William Devane 'Shocked' by Rosland Capital Bankruptcy Amid Investor Loss Allegations
The 'Knots Landing' star, who served as the face of the precious metals firm, is reportedly dismayed by the company's sudden financial collapse and claims that clients lost millions.
Veteran actor William Devane has expressed shock following the bankruptcy of precious metals firm Rosland Capital, for which he served as a prominent spokesperson. The company faces allegations that it defrauded investors out of millions of dollars, with a significant portion of the alleged victims being elderly clients.
Devane, best known for his decade-long role as Greg Sumner on the hit 1980s soap opera "Knots Landing," was the "face" of Rosland Capital for nearly 15 years. He reportedly earned a lucrative deal for his involvement with the company. The actor's representatives stated he is "shocked" by the firm's sudden bankruptcy and the ensuing accusations.
Rosland Capital filed for bankruptcy in July. The allegations suggest that brokers at the company unduly influenced clients, many of them elderly, to purchase gold and silver coins. These often included special edition collections, such as those featuring Formula 1 racing, tennis legend Billy Jean King, and golfer Arnold Palmer.
Among the individuals implicated is Erik von Detten, an actor who gained fame for his role as Josh Bryant in the 2001 film "The Princess Diaries." Legal documents have been filed by attorneys representing elderly couples who claim to have lost millions in savings due to their dealings with von Detten and Rosland Capital.
Devane's nearly 15-year tenure as the company's spokesperson saw him featured in numerous commercials, promoting precious metal assets. Despite the company's bankruptcy filing in July, its social media presence, including its Facebook page, remains active.
