Coronation Street actor Jack P. Shepherd recently showcased the results of his third hair transplant, appearing on set in Manchester. Shepherd, who portrays David Platt in the ITV soap, has undergone the procedure twice before, in 2018 and December 2019.
The 38-year-old actor appeared in good spirits with his developing hairstyle, two months after his most recent procedure. He was joined by on-screen sister Tina O'Brien, who plays Sarah Platt. O'Brien was dressed in a pink suit for scenes involving a murder trial, following the revelation that her character is the murderer of Theo Silverton, a scaffolder who died after months of abusive behavior towards his husband Todd.
Shepherd explained his decision for a third transplant, noting that baldness can progress over time, necessitating further procedures. "So most people are thinking, 'I thought you'd just get one hair transplant and then it's Elvis'. But that's not the case apparently, because baldness still progresses as time goes on," he said. "So I had one in 2018, 2019 and now. So I've had it all done mainly on the front and sections."
During filming, Shepherd's co-star Ben Price, who plays Nick Tilsley, noted that Shepherd had the procedure done the day before. "I had it done yesterday. So this is day one, as they call it," Shepherd confirmed.
Shepherd revealed his shaved head to castmates, showing a slightly bloodied scalp. His colleagues, including Colson Smith, reacted with surprise and amusement. Smith commented, "I think it's a look, you know. I actually quite like it," while Price expressed astonishment.
Shepherd indicated that the decision was not difficult, as he could see the thinning in the middle and back of his head. He also mentioned that the timing coincided with time off for the birth of his baby, calling it "perfect."
O'Brien was photographed in a pink suit for the court scenes, having previously arrived in pale yellow shorts and a white vest top. Other cast members present included Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt), Alison King (Carla Connor), Julia Goulding (Shona Platt), and Sam Robertson (Adam Barlow), who were all filmed at Bolton Crown Court.
Shepherd also shared that his wife, Hanni, had expressed concerns about the timing of the transplant due to its visibility during the arrival of their child.
