Actor and Pilot Identified as Victim in Southern California Plane Crash
Guy Kapulnik, an Israeli actor with a passion for aviation, died when his light aircraft crashed in Hesperia.
Actor Guy Kapulnik has been identified as one of two individuals killed in a plane crash that occurred last Thursday in a remote field in Hesperia, California.
The aircraft, a single-engine Aeronca Champion, went down nose-first north of Lake Arrowhead. Kapulnik, an Israeli national who had served in the Israeli Defense Forces' elite 669 search and rescue unit, was an aviation enthusiast and worked as a flight instructor in recent years.
Kapulnik had an extensive acting career, with more than 30 credits on IMDb, including roles in "Call of the Wild" (2020), "Room 514," "Salsa Tel Aviv," "Watch Over Me," and "Lebanon." His family described him as "a man of action, curiosity, and adventure."
The other individual who perished in the crash was identified as 33-year-old Taylor Laska, a resident of Santa Monica.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash. Kapulnik's memorial service is scheduled to be held in his hometown of Karmei Yosef, Israel.
