Jennifer Sey, founder of the apparel company XX-XY Athletics, has stated that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating threats made against her and her employees. Sey, a former gymnast and author, has become a prominent voice in the debate surrounding the inclusion of transgender athletes in women's sports.

XX-XY Athletics' stated mission is to "empower female athletes and take a stand for fair competition," a position that has placed Sey at the center of ongoing discussions, particularly within the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA).

Sey revealed the nature of the threats in an article published on Daily Wire. She described receiving not just critical messages but explicit threats, including detailed descriptions of harm intended for her, her team, and their children. She recounted an incident where an individual entered the XX-XY offices demanding to see her, exhibiting agitated behavior that caused fear among Sey and her staff.

"I was terrified he would show up at my house that night while I was home alone with my daughter, with my husband out of town with our son," Sey wrote, detailing that she subsequently had a security consultant stay outside her home for a period. She also mentioned sleeping with bear spray by her bedside.

Sey linked the increased threats to the public profile of her company and its stance on women's sports. She noted that criticisms of her typically focus on smearing her personally rather than engaging with her arguments.

"This is on top of the endless hit pieces, which intensify and increase in volume as our profile rises," Sey stated. "And the hit pieces, of course, never deal with my actual words or my argument; they only seek to smear me as a person."

The controversy has been amplified by public statements from athletes, including WNBA player Sophie Cunningham, who has voiced concerns about what she described as protecting young girls from competing against "biological men." Sey and Cunningham were pictured together, along with another activist, Riley Gaines, in the wake of Cunningham's comments.
