An individual accused of planning a massacre at a Las Vegas-area casino had made threats of mass violence years prior, according to chilling audio recordings released by police. Allison Howlett, 36, was arrested on Saturday in a casino parking garage in Henderson, Nevada, with a substantial arsenal of firearms and ammunition.
Henderson Police Chief Reggie Rader stated that Howlett's former spouse had contacted police, reporting that the suspect intended to engage in "suicide by cop" or carry out a mass shooting. Following the arrest, authorities revealed evidence of similar threats dating back to 2024, playing an audio recording where Howlett is heard issuing a profanity-laced tirade.
In the recording, Howlett can be heard saying, "I swear to God, if the FBI doesn’t come f—king arrest me, there’s gonna be a f—king mass shooting." The suspect continued, "There’s one day you’re gonna be pissing me the f—k off, and it’s gonna be the last f—king straw. You’re going to the be reason that hundreds of people lose their goddamn life." Law enforcement has not identified the source or intended recipient of the recording.
Howlett was arrested on charges including making terroristic threats, assault with a deadly weapon, auto theft, and gun theft. Video footage from the arrest at the Sunset Station hotel shows officers surrounding Howlett's vehicle and removing the suspect. Upon searching the car, officers discovered a handgun on which Howlett had been sitting and an MP5 submachine gun in the back seat.
Authorities reported uncovering a total of 55 firearms. Twenty-two were found in the vehicle, with the remainder discovered at Howlett's residence. The seized items included multiple handguns, rifles, a fully automatic firearm, suppressors, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Howlett is currently in custody under $500,000 bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 15.
