Simon Levy, who has been described as a 'serial predator' and has previous convictions for sexual assault, will not testify in his own defense during his trial for murder and rape. Levy is accused of murdering Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, and Sheryl Wilkins, 39, and raping another woman.

Siobhan Grey KC, Levy's barrister, informed the court of his decision not to give evidence. The defense has called a Home Office pathologist, Dr. Brett Lockyer, who testified that the cause of death for both women was unascertained. Dr. Lockyer also agreed that there was no indication of strangulation in Ms. Valencia-Trujillo's case.

The surviving victim, a 35-year-old woman who cannot be named, previously told the Old Bailey that she believed she was 'going to die' after Levy allegedly broke her collarbone, smothered, and raped her in a car park in Tottenham, north London, in January of the previous year. Police found Ms. Valencia-Trujillo's body in a disused block of flats in Southwark on March 17. A pipe with Levy's blood was found near her, and his DNA was present on her body, according to court testimony.

Maya Wilkins's body was discovered behind a wall in the same car park where the alleged rape occurred, four months after Ms. Valencia-Trujillo's death. She had 83 injuries to her face, head, upper body, arms, and legs. Blood tests from Ms. Valencia-Trujillo revealed cocaine in her system, and Ms. Wilkins's blood also showed markers for cocaine and heroin. Dr. Lockyer disputed claims of dragging injuries, suggesting that abrasions on Ms. Valencia-Trujillo's skin could have resulted from sexual activity on the car park floor.

Jurors have been informed that Levy, 40, has a history of sexual offenses, with 13 convictions between 2018 and 2025. His prior convictions include an incident in July 2018 where he thrust his hand into a woman's underwear at a party and another attack at Notting Hill Carnival a month later. While incarcerated at HMP Brixton, Levy also sexually assaulted a female officer in April 2022.

Levy was arrested on April 1 after police allegedly found thousands of newspaper clippings about notorious killers and rapists at his home, including articles on John Worboys, Jeffrey Epstein, and Harvey Weinstein. He also reportedly kept folders titled 'my sex record' and documents on sexual practices. Investigations revealed Levy had searched for Tube maps and conducted numerous searches related to sex. He reportedly answered 'no comment' when questioned about Ms. Valencia-Trujillo's death before being released due to the undetermined cause of death.

Levy denies two counts of murder, two counts of rape, grievous bodily harm with intent, and non-fatal suffocation. The trial is ongoing.
