Accused Killer Mom Faced Gas Shutoff Over $30 Bill

Accused killer mom Metallica Rose Harrison was facing a gas shutoff at her home due to an unpaid bill of $30, days before she allegedly murdered her husband and their 3-year-old son. A "72 hour shut off notice" from Valley Energy, dated Oct. 5, was found taped to the family's front door. It warned that service could be disconnected on or after Oct. 8 for an outstanding balance of $29.05.

Harrison, 27, was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal homicide. The alleged murders occurred at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, Pennsylvania. According to police, she stabbed her husband, Charles Harrison, and their son, Tristan, in the chest.

Prior to the family's Poconos vacation, which began on Sept. 21, Harrison had allegedly withdrawn funds from her husband's 401(k) to cover the trip. The vacation was initially scheduled to end Oct. 5, but the family reportedly extended their stay to Oct. 13.

Hotel security records indicated that Harrison, Charles, and Tristan entered their room shortly before 7 p.m. on a Sunday. Later that evening, the couple reportedly left the room to visit the resort arcade, returning at 11:22 p.m. The following day, shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday, Harrison called 911. During the call, she allegedly expressed a desire to end her own life and asked for assistance, stating she was too weak to stab herself and that knives were not working.

A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 21 to determine if sufficient evidence exists to proceed to trial at the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas.
