A video of Michigan Senate Democratic hopeful Dr. Abdul El-Sayed dressed as a character from the children's show "Blue's Clues" has resurfaced, prompting a flurry of online reactions. The clip, originally released by El-Sayed's campaign in June as a public service announcement encouraging mail-in voting, gained renewed attention this week.
In the spoof, El-Sayed embraces the role of the show's host, singing and dancing. The video was shared on social media platform X with a message about the mail-in ballot deadline. "Vote time, vote time, vote time, vote time, VOTEEE TIIIMMMEEE!!!!!" El-Sayed posted at the time. "(This one’s for us, 90s kids!)"
The "Blue's Clues" show, popular in the 1990s, featured an animated dog that left clues for viewers and the host to decipher. The resurfaced video has drawn a range of responses online, with some users expressing astonishment and others criticizing the content as "cringe."
El-Sayed recently won a competitive primary against Rep. Haley Stevens. He is slated to face Republican Mike Rogers in the 2026 midterm elections, in a race considered one of the most competitive Senate contests in the country. During his primary campaign, El-Sayed faced scrutiny over his past associations and his refusal to denounce controversial figures.
