ABC has refuted reports that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will not have its contract extended past May 2027, stating that such claims are inaccurate and speculative.

Jimmy Kimmel returned to his late-night talk show on Tuesday, September 8, for the program's 4,000th episode since its 2003 debut. The episode featured guests Andrew Garfield and Joey King.

During his monologue, Kimmel quipped about the milestone, referencing comments attributed to the White House regarding the number of shows. "According to the White House, it’s too many shows," he said.

The show has experienced disruptions in the past year, including a temporary suspension after Kimmel made comments about Charlie Kirk in September 2025. The program resumed nearly a week later, amidst ongoing public commentary from President Donald Trump expressing a desire for Kimmel to leave the air.

Despite the recent reports concerning his contract, ABC issued a statement to multiple outlets, including People, asserting, "This information is inaccurate – any reports about the future of the show at this point are purely speculative."

Tuesday's episode also included Emmy's host Mariska Hargitay and The Shards star Kaia Gerber as guests, with a performance by The Milk Carton Kids.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:30 p.m. ET on ABC and is available for next-day streaming on Hulu. The streaming service offers a basic plan with ads for $11.99 per month, or an ad-free version for $18.99 per month. Bundles including Hulu and Disney+ start at $12.99 per month for ad-supported options.
