Abby Lee Miller Slams American Airlines Over Allegedly Damaged Wheelchair
The 'Dance Moms' star claims her wheelchair was returned "in pieces" after a flight.
Abby Lee Miller, known for her role in the reality show "Dance Moms," has publicly criticized American Airlines, alleging that her wheelchair was severely damaged during a flight.
Miller, 61, shared her experience in an interview on Wednesday, stating that her wheelchair was returned to her "in pieces" at 2 a.m. This incident left her struggling to find a way to get home, forcing her to rely on a push chair. "It was awful, awful, absolutely awful," she expressed.
American Airlines has not yet responded to requests for comment.
This is not the first time Miller has encountered issues with the airline. In 2019, she recounted an incident where she fell out of her wheelchair at Pittsburgh International Airport during a transfer between chairs. At the time, she posted on Instagram about the fall, thanking airport escorts and firefighters for their assistance. Following that incident, Miller reported experiencing body aches, particularly in her right hip and knee, and soreness in her right shoulder.
In a separate legal matter in 2022, Miller filed a $8.5 million lawsuit against Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton after a hotel door allegedly fell on her when her wheelchair became caught. Miller has used a wheelchair since undergoing emergency spinal surgery in 2018, which was followed by a diagnosis of Burkitt lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This health crisis occurred after she served a prison sentence for bankruptcy fraud convictions.
Miller is also set to appear in a new short-form reality series titled "Abby vs. Cathy: Hit the 8," alongside her former "Dance Moms" rival Cathy Nesbitt-Stein. The series is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 27 on ShortVydz.
