Aaron Rodgers has publicly addressed his past relationship with former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick, refuting her characterization of their breakup and their relationship.
During an appearance on the "Not just Football" podcast, Rodgers stated that Patrick has "publicly sharing a false narrative that he’s a 'monster partner.'" He specifically responded to Patrick's recent comments about their relationship, which she described as "emotionally abusive" and said it "wore me down to nothing," alleging that Rodgers left "a trail of blood" when they parted ways in 2020.
Rodgers questioned why Patrick continues to speak about him years after their relationship ended. "I dated Danica. She had just retired," Rodgers said on the podcast. "She was depressed and not fun to be around. But I didn’t leave her because I was trying to be there and be a good partner. Then it was going a certain direction obviously. There was no intimacy; there was nothing."
He recounted a specific instance where he was purchasing a house in Malibu and Patrick asked if he wanted to buy it together. Rodgers declined, and he stated that their subsequent counseling sessions were interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing them to spend more time together.
"She tells a story that she was so blindsided and getting left by you, and that he leaves a trail of blood around him. And I’m like, what are you talking about? That’s not what happened," Rodgers said regarding Patrick's account of their breakup.
Rodgers and Patrick dated for two years and ended their relationship in July 2020. Patrick had previously discussed their split in May 2025 on "The Sage Steele Show."
Rodgers did not name another woman he dated who he felt was similarly seeking attention by mentioning his name. Following his breakup with Patrick, Rodgers dated actress Shailene Woodley. They announced their engagement in February 2021, but it was reported they separated in April 2022. Rodgers clarified during the podcast that their split actually occurred in 2021 after Woodley removed her engagement ring and expressed not wanting to be with him.
