Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers appears to have reconciled with some members of his family after a estrangement lasting over a decade. Rodgers shared a series of photographs on his Instagram account, describing the time as "Another bonding week."
The images depict Rodgers alongside his mother, Darla, and his father, Ed, both of whom he had been estranged from for approximately ten years. He is also seen with his older brother, Luke Rodgers.
Rodgers and Luke were observed laughing together and interacting with children's toys belonging to Luke's two children. The final photograph shows Rodgers with Luke's children, while Luke and his wife, Aimee, were tagged in the post.
The extended family rift was reportedly exacerbated by Rodgers' past relationship with Olivia Munn. According to reports, Darla, described as a devout Christian, was dismayed by Munn's public statements about premarital sex with Rodgers. Munn, in turn, claimed to have encouraged Rodgers to mend fences with his parents. His father, Ed, reportedly denied Munn's claims, stating she had only recently entered Rodgers' life as a girlfriend.
Further complicating the situation, Rodgers' parents allegedly hoped for an apology from him regarding Munn's comments. When no apology was received, they reportedly traveled to Tampa. Rodgers then sent an email to family members stating, "Don't attack the woman I love." This message led Ed and Darla to cease contact with their son for an additional nine years.
