Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers reunited with his estranged parents, Darla and Ed, several months before their family reunion was publicly revealed on social media. Footage from April shows Rodgers with his parents at the inaugural Pleasant Valley High School Athletics Hall of Fame dinner in Chico, California.
During the ceremony, Rodgers gave a speech and thanked his parents for their support in his football career. His parents had reportedly been estranged from the quarterback for over a decade prior to this public display of reconciliation.
This event predates the Instagram post Rodgers shared earlier this week, which included photos with his mother, father, and brother Luke, celebrating what he called "another bonding week." The quarterback also shared images of himself with his nephew's children.
Rodgers' wife, Brittani, whom he discreetly married in early 2025, was not present at the hall of fame ceremony. Her identity remains largely unknown, with Rodgers having revealed his marriage in June of last year but offering few details. He mentioned dating someone named Brittani on the Pat McAfee Show in December 2024, describing her as a private person.
Biographer Ian O'Connor stated that the family reunion was not sudden, citing a 2023 celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe where Rodgers embraced his father, marking their first conversation in nearly nine years. O'Connor suggested this interaction "opened the door" to their eventual reconciliation.
According to O'Connor, former college coach Craig Rigsbee also encouraged Rodgers to reconnect with his family. Rodgers played at Butte College before transferring to Cal.
Rodgers' past relationship with actress Olivia Munn was previously reported as a factor in his estrangement from his family. The Daily Mail reported that Munn's public comments about her relationship with Rodgers reportedly caused distress to his devout Christian mother, Darla. Munn had also attempted to mediate between Rodgers and his parents, which his father, Ed, reportedly dismissed, stating Munn was "just his girlfriend" while they were his parents.
Rodgers' younger brother, Jordan, and his wife, JoJo Fletcher, were not featured in the recent social media posts and reportedly did not attend Rodgers' wedding to Brittani. A source indicated that Jordan and Fletcher are still upset that Rodgers did not attend their wedding and have limited knowledge of Brittani, receiving information secondhand from Rodgers' parents.
