Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has voiced lingering frustrations with some former Green Bay Packers teammates and past romantic partners, detailing his perspective in a recent podcast interview. Rodgers appeared on the "Not Just Football" podcast, hosted by his Steelers teammate Cam Heyward, where he addressed comments made by former players about their experiences with him.
"I had two teammates who spoke out about me years ago, out of everyone I ever played with who said they didn't have a good experience with me," Rodgers said on the podcast. He described one former teammate as "bitter because he went to another team and never became a player again," and the other as "just wasn't a smart person." Rodgers stated that the latter comment "hurt more" due to the time he invested in the player, recalling hours spent preparing him for games.
Rodgers did not explicitly name the individuals, but reports suggest he was referring to Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley. Jennings, who left the Packers for the Minnesota Vikings in 2013, has previously been critical of Rodgers, characterizing him as someone who "creates the spotlight for himself." Jennings recently questioned Rodgers' practice of publicly addressing player mistakes, contrasting it with how other quarterbacks handle such situations.
Finley, a former tight end, had also criticized Rodgers' work ethic in previous years, particularly after a significant loss to the New Orleans Saints in 2021, despite Rodgers going on to win MVP that season. Rodgers' general sentiment was that individuals who are only relevant by mentioning his name should reconsider their approach.
"If you're only relevant by mentioning my name, you should check yourself," Rodgers told Heyward. "No one cares what they have to say until they say my name."
The quarterback also addressed his past relationships with Danica Patrick and Shailene Woodley. Regarding Patrick, Rodgers claimed there was "zero intimacy" in their relationship and that it ended when he did not want to purchase another home with her. He stated that their relationship soured shortly after he proposed to Woodley when she allegedly expressed interest in sleeping with another man before their marriage.
"I dated two women who nobody gives a f*** about unless they drop my name — and they like to say their version of the history of what actually happened," Rodgers said. "So I'm this monster of a partner and it's just fing horses. Number one: Why are you still talking about me? It's been years."
