Aaron Glenn Downplays Garrett Wilson's Sideline Outburst

New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn has downplayed a sideline incident involving receiver Garrett Wilson during the team's recent loss to the Miami Dolphins. CBS cameras captured Wilson engaging in a heated exchange on the sideline, which commentators initially believed was directed at quarterback Geno Smith. However, a closer review indicated Wilson was speaking with passing game coordinator Seth Ryan.

Glenn addressed the situation Monday, suggesting that such displays are often exaggerated. "I think sometimes that’s overblown as far as what people think is happening," Glenn said. "Sometimes those conversations can be totally something else. I know for a fact that Geno, Garrett, it was more or less, ‘Let’s get going. Let’s get the offense going,’ more than guys bickering at each other."

Wilson's frustration is understandable given his limited involvement in the offense. In the 28-25 loss to Miami, Wilson was targeted only three times, resulting in two catches, with another reception negated by a penalty. This follows a pattern of extended periods where Wilson has not been a focal point of the passing game, including only two targets in the first three quarters of the previous week's game against the Patriots.

Despite the frustration, Glenn reiterated the team's intention to involve Wilson more. "Garrett is our top priority to make sure we get the ball," Glenn stated. "But make no mistake about it, I think offensively we did some good things as far as when they were doubling Garrett, who was open? And I think that’s the essence of what you have to do is make sure that when you have an opportunity to throw to an open receiver, you take that opportunity instead of forcing the ball. But as much as possible, and I think you guys know this, we’re trying to get the ball to Garrett as much as we can."

In other team news, cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. was an unexpected inactive player for Sunday's game. Glenn declined to provide specific reasons for the decision, stating, "I’m going to keep that in-house between me and Jarvis and we’ll go from there." When asked if it was a disciplinary matter, Glenn reiterated his stance of keeping the details private.

An update on nose tackle T’Vondre Sweat, who left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury, was not provided by Glenn.
