Aaron Donald Urges Rams to Avoid Panic Amid Challenging Season

Aaron Donald, a veteran defensive lineman for the Los Angeles Rams, is urging his team to remain resilient and avoid panic as their season falters. With a current record of 2-4, placing them last in the NFC West, the Rams are grappling with a roster heavily impacted by injuries and a series of close losses.

"You can’t curl up and think it’s over. It’s not over," Donald stated Thursday after practice. "You have a lot of ball to play. You just have to find a way to play better and find a way to win games."

The team's aspirations for a Super Bowl run have been overshadowed by a pattern of squandered leads, costly penalties, and missed opportunities in recent games. Each of their last four contests has been decided in the final plays, with the Rams often on the losing end of these close matchups. Following an overtime loss to Buffalo, they suffered an 18-16 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals, which dropped them to the bottom of their division.

The injury situation has further compounded the Rams' struggles. Wide receiver Davante Adams is sidelined for an estimated 6-10 weeks with a hamstring injury, defensive tackle Poona Ford is out for the season, and Kobie Turner will miss multiple weeks. Significant injuries have also affected the offensive line, receiving corps, and tight end room, with Myles Garrett also remaining sidelined. Nearly half of the starting lineup has been impacted, forcing coach Sean McVay to adapt and potentially increasing the workload for players like Donald.

Despite the adversity, Donald, 35, remains committed to the team's potential to turn the season around. "If it’s 30 plays, 40 plays, 50 plays, 60 plays, that’s what it’s going to be," he said regarding his potential increased playing time. He acknowledges the team's current challenges but refuses to succumb to despair.

"Is there a sense of urgency? For sure, because we want to win," Donald said. "But as far as curling up and panicking like this is the end of the world, it’s not that."

Donald recognizes that the Rams face genuine issues that require immediate attention. However, with 11 games remaining on the schedule, he believes there is still time to salvage the season, beginning with their upcoming game against the Las Vegas Raiders. "We control how we want the season to go," Donald asserted. "We just have to go out there and do it."

Donald maintains that the team has enough time and opportunity to improve and find a way to secure victories, despite the early-season setbacks.
