Aaron Donald made his long-awaited return to the NFL on Monday Night Football, playing a key role in the Los Angeles Rams' decisive 28-6 victory over the New York Giants. The Super Bowl favorites secured their first win of the season in Week 2, with Donald's presence marking a significant moment after his retirement in March 2024.
"It felt good to be out there, get my first game under my belt after two years," Donald stated following the game, acknowledging the physical toll of his return. "I’m a little sore out there, a little sore. Get my body back right and get back to work."
Despite being double-teamed frequently throughout the game, Donald's performance included 32 total snaps, 18 of which were pass rush snaps. He recorded three total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one quarterback pressure. The tackle for loss proved crucial late in the first half, stopping the Giants on third down inside the Rams' 5-yard line and forcing them to settle for a field goal, extending the Rams' lead to 14-0.
Donald's return had been speculated following the Rams' trade for Myles Garrett. His family was in attendance to watch his comeback game. The veteran defensive tackle appeared to show no rust, contributing immediately to the Rams' dominant performance.
