Aaron Donald Compares Josh Allen to 'Futuristic Ben Roethlisberger'
The Rams' star defensive player discusses the Bills' quarterback ahead of their Monday Night Football matchup, confirming his own availability.
Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, a future Hall of Famer, has likened Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen to a modern interpretation of Ben Roethlisberger. Donald is set to return for Monday Night Football against the Bills after missing the Rams' previous game due to back soreness.
Donald described Allen as "a futuristic Big Ben," drawing parallels to the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback known for his ability to extend plays, absorb hits, and deliver crucial passes. Allen, however, also possesses the size of a linebacker and the running ability to match.
"He’s a playmaker," Donald said of Allen on Friday after practice. "I think my first time playing him was 2020. I think that was his first breakout year or whatever. I’m like, ‘Yeah, he’s a different type of player.’"
Donald, a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, returned to practice on Thursday and Friday. He reported no setbacks and expressed confidence in his ability to play in the upcoming game.
"I plan to play this week," Donald stated. "Yesterday, I got to practice. Today, I got to practice. No setbacks. I feel great. Let’s keep feeling like that, you know?"
Allen's ability to escape pressure has made him a difficult quarterback to contain. The Rams' defensive front, even without Donald in their last game, managed to pressure the Philadelphia Eagles' offense during their recent comeback victory. Donald's potential return adds another significant challenge for Allen and the Bills' offense.
The Rams and Bills are scheduled to face off Monday Night Football at SoFi Stadium.
