Jackie Brown, a 99-year-old former farmer, recently realized a long-held wish by leading an Ayrshire cow at a show in Stranraer. Brown, who has been involved in community activities for years, saw this as an opportunity to give back to those who once supported his own participation in agricultural shows.

Brown described the experience as beyond a dream come true. He also noted that the cow he led, named Jackie, was a pioneer in its own right within the agricultural community of Galloway. This cow used to show black face sheep and was also involved in making shepherd's crooks, which were displayed at local shows.

Furthermore, the cow Jackie was recognized as the first in the area to host an open farm, inviting the public to observe traditional farming methods from many years ago. For his efforts in leading the cow, Jackie Brown received a rosette for "Supreme Champion, Oldest Handler."
