Betty Bromage, a 97-year-old from Cheltenham, has broken the Guinness World Record for the oldest female wing walker. This achievement surpasses her own previous record, set four years ago when she was 93.
Bromage undertook the challenge to raise funds for the stroke unit at Cheltenham General Hospital, where she received care after suffering a stroke in 2025. She has now completed six charity wing walks since turning 87.
"I'd just get bored of life otherwise," Bromage stated. "I can't drive, I can't see very well and I get a bit frustrated. So, I want to do the things I can do."
Her determination highlights a growing trend of individuals pursuing ambitious feats at advanced ages, often for charitable causes. The wing walking activity involves participants strapping themselves to the wings of a biplane while it is in flight. Bromage's repeated success in this extreme activity underscores her commitment to both personal achievement and supporting medical services.
