Haunting 911 audio has been released from the incident on Barnegat Bay where an alleged drunken grandfather crashed his boat, killing his two young grandchildren.

Stephen Schneider, 64, was allegedly operating his 28-foot boat with a blood alcohol content twice the legal limit when it struck a channel marker on July 19. The impact fatally ejected his grandchildren, 7-year-old Sigmund Paul Golabek and 9-year-old Mya Bella Golabek, into the water.

"We have one on the boat and my husband's in the water trying to get the other child out," the children's grandmother, Laurie Schneider, 64, can be heard saying in the 911 recording. The dispatcher asks if the children are unconscious, to which the grandmother replies, "Yes, yes they are!"

The family had been together for a family dinner before the incident occurred near Berkeley Township around 9 p.m. on July 19. The grandmother relayed their location during the call, stating, "Stephen, are we near channel marker 39? I think my husband's in the water trying to get one of the other kids out!"

Stephen and Laurie Schneider pulled the children from the water. CPR attempts were made before the grandchildren were transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Prosecutors stated Schneider had a blood alcohol content of 0.16. He surrendered to Berkley Township Police in Ocean County and faces charges including two counts of reckless vessel homicide/death by vessel, operating a vessel under the influence, and reckless operation of a vessel.

Last week, the children's father, who is Stephen Schneider's son-in-law, asked for his father-in-law's release from jail.
