A coalition of 9/11 family members, first responders, and elected officials gathered Tuesday at City Hall to ask New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani to not attend this year's Sept. 11 memorial service.
Charles Wolf, who lost his wife in the 2001 attacks, stated that the mayor is "serving himself" and has not provided the same level of support as other politicians. "We are asking respectfully that he not show up," Wolf said. He characterized the memorial as a private ceremony, not a public one, and emphasized that the mayor's presence would revive trauma.
"Mayor Mamdani, please do not come," Wolf urged. He distinguished Mamdani from other politicians who have supported victims' families and advocated for beneficial laws during and after the attacks.
This is a developing story.
