7Up Zero Sugar Recalled After Thousands of Cans Found Packed with Sugar

Over 77,700 cans of 7Up labeled as Zero Sugar have been voluntarily recalled due to the presence of sugar. The recall was initiated in August by Admiral Beverage Corporation, an independent beverage distributor based in Utah. On September 29, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified the recall as a Class II event, signifying a "mid-level" probability of serious adverse health consequences.

The affected products are 12-ounce cans of 7Up Tropical, which were mislabeled as Zero Sugar but contained regular sugar soda. These were distributed in Utah. Consumers can identify the impacted items by their UPC code 0 78000 03798 2 and Lot Code/Batch Code UT06176. The recalled sodas have a best-by date of March 17, 2027, and the recall encompasses 3,240 cases, totaling 77,760 cans.

Keurig Dr Pepper, the parent company of the 7Up brand, stated that the recall was conducted "out of an abundance of caution." A spokesperson for the company told USA TODAY that while the cases were labeled correctly, some individual cans within them may have been mislabeled as 7UP Tropical Zero Sugar. "The safety and quality of our products is our top priority," the brand said.

The FDA has not provided specific instructions for consumers possessing the recalled product. However, it is generally recommended that such items be disposed of as needed. Consumers may also be able to return the soda cans to their local store for a full refund. The FDA advises against donating the recalled product to food banks or other organizations.

Consumers with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the Keurig Dr Pepper Consumer Care team at 866-824-1711.
