Williams, a 12-time Pro Bowl selection, was seen being carted to the locker room without his helmet in the third quarter and did not return to the game. According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Williams sustained a stinger in his neck.

The injury occurred as running back Christian McCaffrey attempted to score in the third quarter. Williams went down awkwardly on his shoulder and was slow to get up before being taken off the field. He was later seen on the sideline but did not re-enter the game, with Kaliai Lowe filling in at left tackle.

Williams has been a key component of the 49ers' offensive line for the past seven seasons, earning Pro Bowl honors for the last six and achieving All-Pro status between 2021 and 2023.

This latest injury to Williams adds to a mounting list for the 49ers. The team has already lost wide receiver Mike Evans for the remainder of the game due to a rib injury. Earlier in the week, defensive end Nick Bosa was placed on injured reserve with a leg injury. The 49ers also saw Christian Kirk and Ricky Pearsall ruled out before the season began, and De'Zhaun Stribling is on injured reserve.
