49ers Receiver DeMarcus Robinson Carted Off with Ankle Injury
Robinson's injury adds to the 49ers' growing list of sidelined wide receivers.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver DeMarcus Robinson was carted to the locker room with an ankle injury during the team's Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins. The veteran receiver sustained the injury in the second quarter while attempting to catch a pass in the red zone.
Robinson fell to the turf at the 4-yard line and was seen limping heavily before being attended to by medical staff. He was then loaded onto an injury cart and driven into the tunnel.
At the time of his departure, Robinson was the 49ers' leading receiver in the game with three catches for 34 yards. The team has not provided an official status update beyond confirming the ankle injury.
This latest injury comes as the 49ers are already dealing with significant absences at the wide receiver position. Rookie Ricky Pearsall is out for the season following PCL surgery performed during training camp. Additionally, rookie De’Zhaun Stribling suffered an ankle injury in Week 1 and underwent surgery this week, expected to sideline him for approximately 10 weeks.
With Robinson now sidelined, the 49ers gave Jacob Cowing his first snaps of the season.
