San Francisco 49ers CEO and controlling owner Jed York was arrested Sunday on suspicion of engaging in prostitution near his northeastern Ohio hometown. He subsequently pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors: disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, and spent one night in jail.
The arrest marks an embarrassing development for the 49ers, a franchise that has maintained a reputation for stability in recent years under the leadership of York, head coach Kyle Shanahan, and general manager John Lynch. York, 46, became the team's principal owner in 2024 after buying out shares from his mother, Denise. The York family originally acquired the team in 2000 from Eddie DeBartolo Jr., who was forced to cede control due to his own legal issues.
York married Danielle Belluomini in 2011, and the couple has two sons, Jaxon, born in October 2012, and Brixton, born a few years later. Belluomini, who previously taught sixth-grade science, maintains a private life and a limited social media presence, though she attends team events with her husband. The family has largely kept to themselves despite their prominent status in the NFL.
York's tenure as CEO began in 2008 when he was appointed at the age of 28, shortly after graduating from Notre Dame. The team's valuation was last calculated by Forbes at $8.6 billion. His early years leading the franchise were described as rocky, but he has since matured into a respected operator of one of the league's most valuable franchises.
