San Francisco 49ers owner and CEO Jed York was arrested on August 23 in East Palestine, Ohio, on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. The 49ers executive, who is worth an estimated $500 million, was apprehended at a trailer park after allegedly arranging to meet an undercover officer posing as a prostitute.
Bodycam footage obtained by The Daily Mail shows York, 46, arriving at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community. When questioned by officers, York stated he was "just driving" and denied meeting anyone. He was taken into custody after an agent found his cellular device, which was used to arrange the meeting.
Court documents indicate that York "arranged to have sexual activity with the female in exchange for $140" and had responded to an ad placed on a website known for prostitution. Law enforcement had set up a sting operation at the location.
York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution, but prosecutors later amended the charge to disorderly conduct. He was also charged with possessing criminal tools. He pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentenced to one day in jail, concurrently, receiving credit for one day served. He was also fined $1,150 and ordered to complete an online course. The $160 seized from him was to be given to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of the plea agreement.
York, who was born in Youngstown, Ohio, is the son of Denise DeBartolo York and John York. He began working for the 49ers in the early 2000s, becoming CEO in 2008 and principal owner in 2024. During his tenure, the team has won five NFC West titles, reached seven NFC Championship Games, and appeared in three Super Bowls. He also oversaw the construction of Levi's Stadium.
Separately, court documents show that York filed for divorce from his wife, Danielle, in May, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple, married in 2011, share two sons and have agreed to joint legal and physical custody.
The NFL issued a statement acknowledging awareness of the matter, which will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy. The 49ers organization stated, "As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time."
