49ers Linebacker Fred Warner Fined Over $65,000 for Unnecessary Roughness

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner has been fined $65,673 by the NFL for two unnecessary roughness violations during the team's recent victory over the Washington Commanders. The penalty includes a $47,762 fine for a hit on Commanders tight end Chig Okonkwo, an incident where officials initially flagged the play before rescinding the penalty.

This latest fine adds to Warner's disciplinary record, bringing him closer to a one-game suspension. He is subject to suspension if he incurs two more penalties for hits on defenseless players. Additionally, a hip-drop tackle he was fined for in a previous game could also lead to a suspension if he accumulates a total of three such infractions.

In Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals, Warner was fined $41,793 for two separate violations: illegal use of the helmet and an uncalled hip-drop tackle. The 49ers secured a 23-17 win against the Commanders, maintaining their undefeated record through six weeks of the NFL season, but the team is also dealing with significant injuries to key players, including wide receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel.
