49ers' Kyle Juszczyk Details Appeal Process for Uniform Violation Fine

San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk has begun the appeal process for the $14,926 fine he received for his signature "juice chugging" touchdown celebration. Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Juszczyk described the experience of appealing the fine.

"It’s what I imagine a court hearing would be like," Juszczyk said. "They read your fine and give the letter of the law. They let you speak, and you basically explain what happened on the play. What your responsibility was. What you were thinking."

He further explained that the process involves agents and the NFL Players Association having opportunities to present their cases before the player awaits a decision. The timeline for these appeals can vary, potentially taking weeks or even months.

Juszczyk was fined after the league sent him a letter stating that his imitation of chugging a beverage "constituted an offensive demonstration and could reasonably be construed as being in poor taste." Juszczyk maintains that he was not drinking beer during the celebration, nor does he believe pretending to do so should warrant a fine, especially considering the NFL's own sponsorships with beer brands.

"Even if it was beer, I don’t think that should be a problem with all of the beer endorsements that we have in the NFL," Juszczyk stated. "Even if it was beer, which it wasn’t, I still felt like it wasn’t an infraction."

Following the public announcement of his fine, Bud Light, an official NFL beer sponsor, commented on a social media post by Juszczyk's teammate George Kittle, acknowledging that Juszczyk does not drink beer. The brand later launched a marketing campaign called the "Celly Jar," offering $37,384 to fans, an amount matching the combined fines for Juszczyk, Matt Goncalves, and Jake Ferguson for their respective celebrations.

In response to the fine, Juszczyk and his wife, Kristin Juszczyk, created a humorous TikTok video depicting them making juice at home. As of now, the outcome of Juszczyk's appeal remains undetermined.
