The NFL season marches into Week 3 with an early-season NFC West clash as the Arizona Cardinals visit Levi’s Stadium to face the undefeated San Francisco 49ers.
San Francisco enters Sunday with a 2-0 record. The team is coming off a commanding 35-13 victory over the Miami Dolphins in their home opener. Quarterback Brock Purdy and the 49ers offense have been scoring an average of 31 points per game. The team will rely on running back Christian McCaffrey and a defense that has allowed only 10 points per game through the first two weeks.
However, the 49ers will be without star defensive end Nick Bosa, who sustained a calf injury in practice this week.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan will face his former assistant Mike LaFleur, who was hired as the Cardinals' head coach this season. LaFleur previously worked under Shanahan from 2017 to 2020.
The Cardinals, also 2-0, are looking to rebound after a 31-7 divisional loss to Seattle in Week 2. Arizona aims to reset with quarterback Jacoby Brissett, leaning on tight end Trey McBride and an aggressive front seven to create turnovers.
