49ers Get Rare Good Injury News on Key Offensive Players

The San Francisco 49ers have received a welcome piece of good news regarding the health of several key players. Wide receiver Mike Evans, offensive tackle Trent Williams, and linebacker Dre Greenlaw, all of whom left Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals with injuries, are not expected to miss significant playing time.

Coach Kyle Shanahan provided an update on Monday, stating that Williams, who exited with a stinger in his neck, "should be good to go by Thursday." Shanahan indicated that Evans, who was carted off the field with a rib injury, and Greenlaw, who sustained a quad contusion, are in a similar situation and also expected to return soon.

Evans' injury had initially raised concerns, as he was seen in visible pain after the game. However, Shanahan clarified it was a rib issue that is not expected to be long-term. All three players will require management during practice this week but appear to have avoided major setbacks.

This news comes as a significant relief for the 49ers, who have been dealing with a substantial number of injuries throughout the season. The team has already lost several of its top wide receivers and has been cautious about utilizing injured reserve spots due to the limited number available for players to return.

In other roster moves, the 49ers signed former Pro Bowl defensive end Matthew Judon to their practice squad to bolster the defensive line, which has been depleted by injuries. The team is also anticipating the return of rookie edge rusher Romello Height from a broken hand, who is expected to begin practicing this week. Additionally, defensive end Mykel Williams, on the Physically Unable to Perform list, will have his practice window opened this week, making him eligible to return for games starting in Week 5.
