49ers Fullback Kyle Juszczyk Out for Weeks With Knee Injury
The veteran Pro Bowler hyperextended his knee in Sunday's win over the Denver Broncos, adding to the team's injury concerns.
San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk is expected to miss "a couple of weeks" after hyperextending his knee during Sunday's 24-14 victory against the Denver Broncos. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter when Broncos cornerback Jahdae Barron tackled Juszczyk after a 16-yard reception.
Initial assessments suggested a knee sprain, but ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported that further tests on Monday could rule out ligament damage. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is scheduled to provide an update on Juszczyk's condition during his weekly conference call with reporters on Monday afternoon.
Juszczyk, a 10-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, has been a key acquisition for the 49ers since Shanahan's arrival in 2017. He has been a consistent presence, missing only seven games in nearly a decade. The Harvard alumnus is known for his deep understanding of Shanahan's offensive system, a role that has become even more critical with other offensive players sidelined.
Before his injury, Juszczyk had recorded two catches for 28 yards against the Broncos, in addition to a touchdown reception in the team's Week 2 win over the Dolphins. His absence adds to a growing list of injuries impacting the 49ers' offense, which also includes Demarcus Robinson, De’Zhaun Stribling, Ricky Pearsall, and Christian Kirk heading into a challenging Week 5 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
