49ers Face Uncertainty at Key Positions Ahead of Broncos Game
Wide receiver Mike Evans and linebacker Dre Greenlaw are questionable, while defensive end Nick Bosa has been ruled out.
The San Francisco 49ers are facing significant uncertainty regarding key players for their upcoming game against the Denver Broncos. Wide receiver Mike Evans and linebacker Dre Greenlaw are both listed as questionable on the team's final injury report, while defensive end Nick Bosa has been ruled out.
Evans did not participate in practice this week after being carted off the field during last Sunday's victory with a rib injury that caused him considerable discomfort. Head coach Kyle Shanahan, who himself previously broke ribs in a July car crash and missed time, expressed hope for Evans' potential availability, noting the player's toughness.
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw is also questionable due to a quad contusion that forced him out of last week's game and prevented him from practicing this week. Adding to the defensive concerns, rookie linebacker Jaden Dugger sustained a shoulder injury during Thursday's practice and will be a game-time decision.
Further complicating matters, receiver Dante Pettis, who recently joined the practice squad, injured his calf during his first practice and also did not participate on Friday.
Defensive end Keion White is also questionable with a hamstring issue. In addition to Bosa, defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. has been ruled out with an ankle injury. The 49ers anticipate activating Mykel Williams from the PUP list next week, and Bosa may also be nearing a return.
On a positive note, All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams, who left the previous game with a stinger in his neck, returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday, and his name did not appear on the injury report.
