Paraag Marathe, who spent 25 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, is leaving his position as executive vice president of football operations to concentrate on his investments in European soccer clubs.

Marathe is the chairman of Leeds United and also holds investments in Rangers FC. His departure was announced via an organization-wide email from team owner Jed York.

During his tenure with the 49ers, Marathe played a significant role in various aspects of the franchise's operations, including the development of Levi's Stadium. His departure comes amidst a busy period for the team, which has also seen wide receiver Ricky Pearsall undergo season-ending surgery and head coach Kyle Shanahan involved in a car accident on July 25.

Fans will be observing the team's process for selecting Marathe's successor, who will face the challenge of filling a key leadership role within the organization.
