49ers Defensive Star Nick Bosa Nears Return from Calf Injury
General Manager John Lynch indicates Bosa is on track to play against the Raiders on November 8.
San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa is nearing a return to play after being sidelined for over a month with a calf strain. General Manager John Lynch announced that Bosa is expected to be back on the field for the team's matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on November 8.
"He has got to go through the week of practice. He is tracking well to be back," Lynch said Tuesday morning during an appearance on KNBR. "The goal is to have him back and keep him back because he is a difference-maker when he’s on the field."
The upcoming game against the Raiders will provide Bosa with additional recovery time, as it follows the team's bye week. The 49ers, currently 6-1 and leading the NFC West, are preparing for a potential deep playoff run. Managing key players like Bosa is crucial for their success, especially after a recent loss to the Falcons highlighted areas for improvement.
The team has been managing several injuries, including wide receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel being sidelined for the Atlanta game. Lynch acknowledged that injuries are a common challenge for NFL teams at this point in the season. With the trade deadline approaching on November 10, the 49ers are expected to be active in bolstering the roster in injury-affected areas.
