San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan has publicly addressed a car accident he was involved in on July 14, admitting fault and clarifying events.

Shanahan stated that the collision near his Northern California home was his fault. He explained that he briefly took his eyes off the road to locate his phone, which had fallen between the seats. Upon looking back up, he realized he had veered over the line and into another vehicle.

This public statement marks the first time Shanahan has spoken about the incident since news of the crash was reported. The 49ers beat writer Nick Wagoner was among the first to report on the event. Shanahan is expected to have limitations at the start of the 49ers' training camp as he recovers from injuries sustained in the accident.
