4-Year-Old Boy and Father Found Dead After Amber Alert
Authorities locate the pair after issuing an Amber Alert and an arrest warrant for parental kidnapping when the father failed to return the child to his mother.
A four-year-old boy, Andres 'Harry' Furley, and his father, Caleb Furley, were found deceased on Wednesday, hours after an Amber Alert was issued amid concerns for the child's safety. The search began when Caleb Furley failed to return his son to his mother after a scheduled handover.
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for parental kidnapping, intensifying efforts to locate the father and son. The tragic discovery was made after investigators uncovered surveillance footage that appeared to show the pair walking away from a local business in Gainesville, Texas.
Police were led to the business after a relative of the missing father and child reported that the pair had been seen there on Monday afternoon. Employees at the establishment had also reportedly raised concerns about a suspicious man with a young child, prompting them to contact police prior to the Amber Alert.
Officers initially responded to the business but were unable to find either Caleb or Harry. A return visit to examine surveillance recordings on Wednesday morning provided a potential lead. The footage showed a man and child matching their descriptions departing the premises.
Investigators continued to search the area based on this information, which ultimately led to the discovery of both individuals deceased. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are currently unclear, and authorities have not yet released information regarding the cause of death or whether foul play is suspected. A formal identification is pending by the medical examiner's office.
