3 Dead, 1 Hospitalized in Los Angeles News Helicopter Crash
The aircraft crashed Tuesday night between two commercial buildings in Chatsworth.
Three people died and one person was hospitalized following a helicopter crash in Los Angeles on Tuesday night, according to authorities.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the incident shortly before 7 p.m. in the Chatsworth area, between two commercial buildings at 9151 N. Mason Ave.
LAFD Capt. Branden Silverman stated that the aircraft appeared to be a news helicopter, though its specific affiliation has not been confirmed. Of the four individuals assessed at the scene, three were pronounced dead. The fourth person was transported to a local hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
One of the deceased was identified as a pedestrian in the parking lot. Authorities have not yet specified whether the other victims were on board the helicopter or on the ground.
The crash ignited a fire that impacted four vehicles and two storage containers before firefighters contained the flames. The fire did not spread to any nearby structures.
The number of people on board the helicopter at the time of the crash has not been immediately released.
