15-Year-Old Boy and Father Critically Injured in Home Invasion Attack

A 15-year-old boy and his father are in a life-threatening condition after being stabbed during a home invasion by two masked men. The attack occurred in Thurnby, Leicestershire, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Police were called to the residence shortly after 12:30 a.m. following reports of a break-in. Two masked individuals entered the home and assaulted three people. The boy and his father, a man in his 50s, sustained stab wounds and remain in critical condition.

The boy's mother, in her 40s, also suffered minor injuries to her hand and shoulder during the incident and has since been discharged from the hospital. Three other children who were present in the house were unharmed.

Armed officers were dispatched to the scene, but the assailants had fled before their arrival. A police cordon was in place on Friday afternoon, with a forensic investigation vehicle seen outside the property.

Detective Inspector Lorna Granville of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit described the attack as "completely unprovoked" and stated that investigators are working to determine the motive. "This was a violent attack against a family in their own home which appears to have been completely unprovoked," Granville said.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area of Station Road and Somerby Road between 11 p.m. on Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday. Authorities are also requesting any dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from residents in the vicinity.

"Anything you're able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think it might be, could help us," Granville added.

Neighbors expressed fear and concern for the victims, describing them as quiet and good neighbors.
