A 14-year-old boy has been charged with offenses linked to extreme right-wing terrorism over alleged plans to target two mosques in south London. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Thursday.

Authorities initially arrested the youth on suspicion of criminal damage to a vehicle in the Sutton area. During a search of his address, officers reportedly found "a number of documents of concern." This led to his subsequent arrest on suspicion of an offense under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, which pertains to the preparation of terrorist acts and is linked to extreme right-wing terrorism.

The boy also faces a charge of racially aggravated criminal damage to property, specifically a car window. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the terrorism charge relates to an alleged plan to target two mosques in the Sutton area.

Police have contacted the affected mosques and are providing ongoing advice and support through specialist officers. The boy has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
