A 13-year-old boy in Greensboro, North Carolina, died three days after collapsing and going into cardiac arrest during a middle school football practice. Caden Sorrell, a student at Northwest Guilford Middle School, collapsed on Friday after running a lap at the beginning of practice, according to local reports.

Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Caden passed away on Sunday at Cone Hospital. His older sister, Vanessa Clark, described him as a "picture of health" and stated that the family does not yet know the cause of his sudden death. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist his family with medical and funeral expenses.

The fundraiser is also intended to support medical evaluations for Caden's siblings to determine if an underlying genetic condition may have contributed to his death. Northwest Guilford Middle School principal CeCe Matson expressed condolences to Caden's family and encouraged the school community to offer support during this difficult time. A vigil is scheduled to be held at Northwest Guilford High School on Wednesday evening.
