13 Nissan Jukes Stolen in 24-Hour Crime Spree in Welsh Town
Police urge vigilance as a string of thefts targeting the popular SUV model occurs in Caerphilly.
Thirteen Nissan Juke SUVs were stolen in Caerphilly, South Wales, over a 24-hour period, prompting a warning from Gwent Police for owners to remain vigilant. The crimewave exclusively targeted the Nissan Juke model, which is primarily manufactured in Sunderland.
Police confirmed that one of the stolen vehicles has been recovered and is currently undergoing examination by crime scene investigators. The Nissan Juke, which costs approximately £24,000 new and holds significant value on the second-hand market, is a recurring target for thieves. Data from WhatCar? indicates the Juke is one of the most frequently stolen cars in Britain. In 2025, approximately 1,200 Jukes were stolen across the UK, a 17% increase from the previous year. This made it the sixth most stolen car model nationally, despite an overall decline in reported thefts.
The first-generation Juke, produced between 2010 and 2019, appears to be particularly attractive to thieves, accounting for 88% (1,055) of all Juke thefts last year. Residents of Caerphilly shared their experiences on social media, with one user reporting five Nissan Jukes or Navaras stolen, and her own car still missing. Another resident found an allegedly stolen vehicle abandoned in a different part of town.
A spokesperson for Gwent Police stated, "Caerphilly South police community support officers have located a stolen Nissan Juke, one of a number of these vehicles reported stolen across the area within the last 24 hours. The vehicle has now been recovered for CSI examination, with enquiries ongoing to identify those responsible." The spokesperson added, "Caerphilly officers are reminding residents to be vigilant following car thefts in the area. Officers are investigating a number of car thefts which have taken place across the Caerphilly borough in the past 24 hours. At this time, 13 Nissan Juke cars have been reported stolen."
