A family in Horton, Dorset, was left without electricity after a 12-year-old boy crashed his mother's Volkswagen Tiguan into a telegraph pole outside their home.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Friday when Lorraine and Matthew Tricksey were awakened by a loud crash. They initially mistook the sound for a late-night party before discovering the vehicle and downed power lines.
The boy had driven the SUV approximately 38 miles from Salisbury, Wiltshire, before the crash. Upon police arrival, the couple learned the driver was only 12 years old. He sustained no injuries and his mother was called to pick him up from the scene.
The wreckage of the Volkswagen Tiguan, along with broken trees, remains at the property, blocking the driveway and preventing the Trickseys from leaving their home. They have not been informed of when the debris will be cleared.
Restoration of the electricity supply to their home is pending. The couple is currently relying on a temporary generator provided by the electric company. Mrs. Tricksey expressed frustration over the ongoing disruption and the state of her property, noting that police advised them to contact Highways regarding the debris removal.
Mrs. Tricksey also suggested that the boy may not have been alone, recalling hearing another car arrive and hearing shouting before silence prior to the police's arrival. The police stated this was someone attempting to assist, but the residents remain skeptical.
