107-Year-Old Woman Attributes Longevity to Daily Bacon and Eggs

Dorothy Creighton, who recently celebrated her 107th birthday, attributes her long and happy life to a consistent breakfast routine: bacon and eggs every morning. Creighton marked the milestone with a surprise party surrounded by family and friends.

Born in Bristol, Creighton described herself as a tomboy in her youth, enjoying activities like playing football with boys. She began her career as a hairdresser before joining the Women's Land Army during World War II, where she met her husband. The couple raised three children and have numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Creighton moved to Pear Tree Court, a care home in Horndean, England, in 2023. Staff at the home noted her enjoyment of socializing with residents and staff, as well as frequent visits to the coffee shop and sweet cart.

For her birthday celebration, the care home was decorated with balloons and banners, and the head chef prepared a special cake. Aimee Sparks, home manager at Pear Tree Court, commented on the joyous occasion, stating that the celebration was in line with the home's commitment to ensuring residents lead active and fulfilling lives. Sparks added that it was heartwarming to see how happy Creighton was to be surrounded by her loved ones on her special day.

Creighton's regimen for a long life includes not only her daily bacon and eggs but also maintaining strong relationships and keeping those around her engaged. "The secret to a long and happy life is to have a good man, a good family and to keep everyone around me on their toes," Creighton said. She also mentioned her fondness for jelly babies as another indulgence.
