103-Year-Old Social Media Star Carole Roth Shares Secrets to Longevity
The mother of skincare mogul Peter Thomas Roth attributes her long, vibrant life to a balanced lifestyle, a positive attitude, and a consistent skincare routine.
Carole Roth, the 103-year-old mother of skincare entrepreneur Peter Thomas Roth, has become an unlikely viral sensation, sharing her secrets to a long and healthy life. Her ageless complexion and glamorous style have captivated audiences online, leading her to reveal her wellness and beauty regimen.
Roth attributes her longevity to a combination of factors, including eating well, exercising, maintaining good company, and possessing a positive outlook. "I'm always happy," she told the Daily Mail. "If I get in a bad mood I go into the corner and don't talk to anyone [for an hour] and then it passes by."
Her diet includes a variety of foods, with a particular fondness for carbohydrates like bread and pasta. She also enjoys ice cream, soup, fruit, cheese, and steak tartare. A notable indulgence is her love for vodka, especially lychee martinis. "The restaurant has to have a lychee martini on the menu [for her to go]," Peter remarked about his mother's preferences.
Physically active, Carole meets with a trainer three times a week and exercises at home or in her apartment's pool. Peter emphasized the importance of staying active, noting that a lack of movement can lead to a decline in appetite and overall health, particularly for older adults. "We were having this issue where she wasn't hungry or thirsty," he explained, "so one of her doctors said she needs a trainer. It's important when you reach that age, you have to move to keep an appetite."
For her skin, Carole consistently uses her son's skincare products, applying them from her feet to her head each night. Her favorites include the anti-aging cleanser, the water drench moisturizer, and retinol products.
Carole's journey to internet fame began in 2024 when Peter's son, Ryan Roth, shared a video of himself shopping with his grandmother on TikTok. The clip quickly went viral, garnering over a million views and thousands of comments praising her personality and youthful appearance. She has since been featured in numerous videos by Ryan, gaining global recognition.
Despite her newfound fame, Carole finds the attention uplifting. "It makes me feel important," she said, recalling encounters with fans who approach her on the street. "It makes you feel good when people like you."
Carole's life story includes significant hardship. A Hungarian immigrant and Holocaust survivor, she experienced profound trauma during World War II. After being forced into a ghetto, she was packed into a cattle car bound for Auschwitz. Fortunately, the train tracks were bombed by Americans before she reached the concentration camp, allowing her to escape. She subsequently endured forced labor in a brick factory near Vienna for nine months, where she lost a significant amount of weight. After being liberated by Russian forces, she walked over 100 miles to Budapest and later moved to a Displaced Persons camp in Germany before immigrating to the United States, a moment she described as the "happiest day of my life" upon seeing the Statue of Liberty.
Even at 103, Carole maintains a late schedule, often staying up until around 3 a.m., and has no plans to slow down. "I'm 103 years old and I don't feel old," she stated.
