A 10-year-old boy who left his home in the middle of the night while sleepwalking was discovered deceased in a pond, according to Kansas City Police. Authorities found Jackson S. Georgari unresponsive in the water around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. The location was approximately one mile south of his home, near the Briarcliff Village shopping center.

Responders removed the boy from the pond and attempted life-saving measures, but he was declared dead at the scene. Capt. Jake Becchina, a spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department, stated that there were no immediate signs of foul play. An autopsy will be performed by a medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

Family members told KMBC 9 that Jackson had sleepwalked before and that he did not know how to swim. His sister, Semina Richard, recalled previous incidents where he had wandered off, including one occasion in San Diego where he was found safely by 911 responders. She mentioned that after the family recently relocated to Missouri from San Diego, he had again sleepwalked and traveled a significant distance.

The Parent Teacher Organization at Briarcliff Elementary School, where Jackson was a student, issued a statement offering condolences to his family, friends, classmates, and teachers.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to police.
