Widespread Internet Outage Disrupts Major Websites

Dozens of popular websites experienced a significant outage on Friday morning, disrupting services for millions of users. The issues began around 6:40 a.m. ET and affected a wide range of platforms, including Apple Pay, DoorDash, Reddit, and the Hulu streaming service, according to Downdetector, which monitors online service disruptions.
The cause of the widespread disruption has not yet been confirmed. Cloudflare, a major internet infrastructure company that helps manage online traffic and website accessibility, stated it was investigating network-performance problems across Western North America. The company's investigation began as reports of outages surged concurrently with the website disruptions.
Cloudflare has not immediately disclosed what triggered the network issues. "We are working to analyze and mitigate this problem. More updates to follow shortly," the company said on its system status page. The internet infrastructure provider routes online traffic and plays a critical role in maintaining the speed, security, and accessibility of websites globally.
