Tesla Unveils Extended Model YL with Six Seats and Enhanced Range for US Market
The new Model YL, previously available internationally, now offers a three-row configuration and a longer driving range, starting at $61,990.
Tesla has launched its extra-long Model Y L SUV in the United States, a vehicle previously only offered in markets such as Malaysia, China, Australia, and India. The new model, available as a "Launch Series" vehicle, starts at $61,990 and can be customized on Tesla's website.
The Model Y L boasts an estimated 325-mile range, surpassing the standard Model Y's 321 miles and the Model Y Performance's 306 miles. This new SUV features a six-seat, three-row configuration, made possible by a longer wheelbase and overall length compared to earlier Model Y versions. The extended dimensions provide 89 cubic feet of cargo space and are designed to maximize interior comfort.
The interior accommodations include enhanced features for all rows. The second-row captain's seats offer powered armrests, one-touch folding, ventilation, and heating. The third row includes power recline, one-touch folding, and vented climate control.
The Model Y L was initially announced in September 2025 and debuted in China the following month with a price tag of $47,000. While analysts had projected a U.S. base model price closer to $54,000, the "Launch Series" is a fully equipped offering, priced above both the Model Y Performance ($57,900) and the rear-wheel drive Model Y ($39,900).
