Study Identifies Six Physical Traits That Draw Men's Attention Online

New research from the dating app Badoo suggests that six specific physical characteristics tend to capture men's attention online more than others. The findings, which analyzed user interactions on the platform, offer insights into initial attraction signals, though experts caution that personal chemistry remains unpredictable.

According to the data, nearly half of men surveyed, 46 percent, expressed a preference for women whose height falls between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 6 inches. While individual preferences vary widely, this particular range appears to receive the most attention on dating applications.

In terms of eye color, brown eyes were favored by approximately 60 percent of men, surpassing other colors. Experts suggest that while eye color may play a role, the engagement conveyed through eye contact might be more significant.

The research also indicated a preference for brunettes over blondes, with women with brown hair receiving 40 percent of messages compared to 15 percent for blondes. Other studies have similarly highlighted hair as a key factor in first impressions, with a significant percentage of men noting it as the first feature they observe.

A noteworthy finding related to body type indicated that women described as having an 'average' figure received more attention than those with athletic builds. This suggests that attractiveness standards can be more diverse than often portrayed, with evolutionary psychologists pointing to a preference for curvier figures rooted in ancestral advantages during pregnancy.

Beyond facial features and body shape, nail grooming was identified as a factor. Data indicated that women with clean, well-maintained nails tend to receive more attention online. Relationship experts believe that grooming habits can signal self-care and confidence.

Perhaps the least surprising result was the importance of a smile. Previous research by Match Group found that teeth and smiles are among the most important features noticed on a first date by both men and women. Experts state that a smile can make an individual appear more approachable and friendly, traits that are valuable in making a positive first impression.

While the Badoo data offers a glimpse into factors influencing initial attention on dating platforms, experts emphasize that there is no single formula for finding a partner. The identified traits may contribute to profile visibility but do not dictate universal rules for romance.
