Sony WH-CH530 Headphones Offer Premium Sound for Under $100

Sony's new WH-CH530 wireless headphones aim to deliver high-quality audio and extended battery life at an accessible price point. Priced under $100, these headphones offer a compelling alternative to more expensive flagship models, according to a review from the New York Post.

The WH-CH530 headphones feature a lightweight design with comfortable, albeit small, earcups. While they do not fold, making them less portable, they are available in a variety of colors including black, white, cobalt, mint, pink, and coral. Setup is straightforward, facilitated by the Sony Sound Connect app, which allows for quick pairing and access to features like a 10-band equalizer.

Despite lacking active noise cancellation, the headphones are praised for their sound quality, which preserves Sony's signature audio profile. They deliver clear vocals and a balanced soundstage, handling complex instrumentation well. While the bass may lack some punch due to the earcups' size, the overall listening experience is described as enjoyable and comparable to premium headphones when noise cancellation is not a factor. The 10-band EQ can be adjusted to enhance bass or vocal clarity.

Call quality is another strong point, with AI noise reduction technology enhancing voice clarity even in noisy environments. This feature allows for clearer conversations without frequent repetitions.

Comparing the WH-CH530 to its predecessor, the WH-CH520, the newer model offers an additional five hours of battery life, totaling up to 55 hours on a full charge. It also features more EQ bands (10 compared to five) and improved microphone performance for calls. The color options have also been updated, while the price remains consistent with the previous generation.

The headphones charge via USB-C, with a full charge taking approximately three hours. A quick three-minute charge can provide up to 1.5 hours of playback.

Overall, the Sony WH-CH530 headphones are highlighted as a significant value, offering strong sound performance, long battery life, and good call quality for their price. The primary drawback noted is the absence of active noise cancellation, though passive noise isolation still provides some reduction of ambient sound.
